The purpose of our site is to trace the history of dream interpretation from ancient civilizations in B.C.E., such as ancient Egyptian and Greek methods, to modern-day dream analysis research. For example, one of the earliest representations of dream interpretation was in the Epic of Gilgamesh, where the hero’s mother interprets a startling dream of his. We will also be focusing on the shift from the religious motives of dream analysis to more scientific research; Aristotle was the first philosopher/scientist to reject the notion that dreams were messages from God. Essentially, we will be looking at and analyzing the various methods and beliefs about dream interpretation over the centuries.
